DJI introduces the Air 3, a compact, foldable drone with a dual-primary-camera system featuring a 1/1.3-inch CMOS wide-angle and a 3x medium telephoto lens. Both cameras offer 48MP resolution for stunning dual-camera 4K/60fps HDR videos, ensuring rich colors and natural lighting without cropping. The Air 3 extends its flight capabilities to a maximum of 46 minutes, a significant enhancement over its predecessors, allowing for extended creative sessions with less downtime.
Key enhancements include the innovative battery charging hub, which can prioritize power to the most charged battery, ensuring extended flight readiness. The omnidirectional obstacle sensing, bolstered by APAS 5.0, allows for smoother navigational movements, making it more accessible for beginners and safe for all users.
Transmission quality is not compromised, thanks to the O4 video transmission system, boasting a 20 km range and a 1080p/60fps live feed, ensuring smooth operation and real-time viewing. The Advanced RTH (Return to Home) feature is smarter, planning optimized routes back to the starting point while maintaining obstacle sensing.
For filmmakers and enthusiasts, the Air 3 introduces FocusTrack and QuickShots, which include creative movements like Rocket, Dronie, Circle, Helix, Boomerang, and Asteroid, enhancing the cinematic quality of footage. Vertical shooting in 2.7K is now available, perfect for social media posts. The LightCut app offers expanded creative options and simplifies post-production with its One-Tap Edit feature.
Additionally, for the first time in the Air series, the Waypoint feature enables planning of precise flight paths and camera actions, ideal for complex shots and timelapse photography. The package includes the DJI RC 2 remote controller with a built-in FHD screen, utilizing the O4 system for seamless control.
The drone package comes complete with three intelligent flight batteries, a charging hub, a shoulder bag, low-noise propellers, a gimbal camera protector, and a USB-C cable. Notably, DJI Air 3 is C1 certified by the EASA.
However, users must comply with local regulations. For commercial use, registration with the South African Civil Aviation Authority is required, and operators must observe statutory requirements on use, liability, privacy, and other laws. For comprehensive guidelines, visit the South African Civil Aviation Authority website.
With these features, DJI Air 3 is not just a tool but a gateway to capturing expansive landscapes and detailed portraits, making every angle iconic and every flight a story waiting to be told.
